I make youtube videos as a hobby/"job" (partnered with StyleHaul), and make fashion videos that are monetized to generate an income. Would including this as an EC on an application help/hurt my chances for top-tier colleges if I have a significant number of subscribers/video views? I know it's a very nontraditional extracurricular, but it has the same time commitments as a regular job and necessitates a lot of social media knowledge. It wouldn't be the central focus to my application but just wondering if it would look bad to include it.

I would include it. It sounds really great and not very common( especially of you have a fair amount of subscribers)

You could, but you have to be careful when you consider things like this. Does it have any potentially revealing or embarassing things that you wouldn’t want a college admissions officer to know? Have you maintained respectful and courteous in all the comments and postings you have made on the site? Personally, I would feel uncomfortable giving them access to a youtube or even any sort of social media site, but if the videos are good and is an essential portion of who you are, you can definitely include it in the extra portion of the commona app

Yeah you should put it on your application! Why not? I do not think it will hurt you at all! Just when you put it down on your application don’t label it as “Youtube Channel” call it “Youtube Partner” (or whatever they call it) and list the amount of revenue or something. Describe it in terms/ways that old people in the admissions will understand it.

Out of curiosity, what is your Youtube channel? :’)
