I just wanted to make sure on something. I couldn't get Calculus into my schedule, so I decided that I should just take PreCalculus again. Though I had a PreCalculus grade of 0.7 (and this was during my Sophomore year of high school). I thought it was a good idea to get some University of Washington credits... but apparently I was having a difficult time learning from this class and the teachers since they just started this program.

But since I have PreCalculus in my grade report, would they allow me to take PreCalculus again? I already signed up for the class, but I would've wanted to go into Calculus and get it done with. I also did the placement test for Calculus but I had 5 points less than the minimum score they wanted, so that was a total bummer.

Would they just have two separate grades for two PreCalculus classes then? What should I do?

You should be able to take it again, but I’d talk with an adviser to make sure. If you want to take calculus in the future, remember that the prerequisites for MATH 124 are:

“Prerequisite: either a minimum grade of 2.5 in MATH 120, a score of 154-163 on the MPT-AS placement test, or score of 2 on AP test.”

Obviously that was your HS grade so it doesn’t officially factor in, but I recommend that you start your calc sequence with a good understanding of precalc stuff. Although in my experience, precalc is just a quick overview of many topics that could come up in the future; your calc classes will go more in-depth on these subjects when they come up anyways.

Oh right… no wonder why I couldn’t get into Calculus with a PreCalculus class already taken. I was thinking about retaking the placement exam, but then like potatomawnster said, I might need to review again.

Though… with a 0.7 Grade in my UW PreCalculus class in high school, would it affect me? I really do not want to start off badly in the school year with a low GPA (especially when I’m aiming for at least a 3.4-3.6+ GPA).

Right now my cumulative GPA is 2.3 (thanks to another UW class I took in high school and got a 3.9 on)
