increase from 1390 to 1800+

Hi I am a sat taker(international),I am going to take the SAT in may for the second time.
I got a 1390(really law score I know) in January 2013. Finally I was wondering if I could achieve a 1800+.Thanks For Your concern :)
PS: my very low score on my first try was due to solving evrything on critical readin section and the writing one.

No, I don’t think so. Your English skills are lacking and it takes a long time to become fluent in English.

What is your CR/M/W breakdown, and what essay scores did you receive?

How did you prepare for the first test? How are you preparing now?

Have you considered/tried the ACT? The added science section and optional essay may lessen the emphasis on English.

my sub scores are :
CR—>390
W—>390
MATH—>610
I prepared for the first test by taking SAT course with a private tutor for 1 month approximately;however, he focused blindly on the writing section thinking that it will get me bonus marks.
Now I am considering the latin words/ prefixes/suffixes.
ps: i took the Januaary exam for the first time and i faced some problems:
1)I got depressed from the sentence completion
2)I was not well prepared for the CR section
3)I answered every questions leaving a little number of questions.

4)I could not handle my time.

I don’t think you will do much better. Sorry man. You can try, though.

Make sure you also take the TOEFL. For internationals that is usually req’d.

^True, but many community colleges will accept students and help them to prepare for TOEFL. As of your current standing, it would be hard for you to get accepted by any main stream universities. Try to contact some community colleges instead and they may enroll you for ESL program while taking some college level classes to accumulate credits.

Just read more and learn some vocab, you might want to improve your math too, because it only gives you a 10 point buffer for an 1800 at 610. I got a 470 in CR and a 540 W, at the moment, I’m reading released SAT passages and New York Times articles when I get bored. I’m also using flashcards to learn vocab, the sentence corrections just take some getting used too, take some practice tests and see why the answers work.

It’s possible for you to get to 1800, I’m also trying to make a big jump (1620>2000), just put your mind to it and read more. Worst comes to worst, get a tutor.

The SAT is about practice and memorization. If you practice enough then it’s possible.

@AznSkyDragon @sosomenza @ognopgod thank you for being so optimistic
can you tell me some CR tactics that will workout for me ?
thanks in advance
