40 percent increase, hows that gonna affect acceptance rates.

Acceptance rate will decrease to reflect the rise in number of applicants...

lol now i look stupid..nah i knew the rate would decrease...but what im saying is by how much and how many less people...i mean 40 percent is huge.

I mean, nobody knows by how much it will decrease, but I would guess early acceptance rate to be 25-30% this year.

Yea. it's reallly going to **** me off. It makes it worse for everyone :(

Here is a link to the Trib article where Ted O'Neil quotes a projected EA acceptance rate of 30-33%:

Before you get too upset - from what I have seen in 4 years of admissions cycles, our CC kids that are any kind of sensible tend to do much better than the average at UChicago and other selective schools. Best of luck to all of you!

good article. thanks for the link!

To be honest, I'm actually happily surprised that the acceptance rate will still be in the 30's, albeit on the lower side of spectrum. After much angst and speculation, it seemed to me that UChicago's EA acceptance rate would be in the mid 20's.

Oh well -- this will all be futile in (hopefully) less than two weeks.
