WOW, Wash U for $20? I would carefully check the career placement information for WashU’s CE department, but assuming everything checks out, its the clear choice here.

For wash u I got a combo of the enterprise holding scholarship (based on merit, leadership activities and financial need) and a Ramirez scholarship based on need… Don’t get me wrong I enjoyed my stay at wash u but NU had always been on top of my list. I’m just at a standstill as to what to do

Talk to your dad. If he feels that too much of the family’s cash is going to be tied up with the new business, then that will be an issue.

What was your FAFSA EFC?

OP, Did you do any research? WashU doesn’t have civil engineering. Their engineering offers are pretty limited compared to Illinois or even NU.

This could be a big problem for FA. The schools may consider the new business as an asset against which your family can borrow. Your EFC may actually go up (potentially by a large amount).

After I updated my tax returns…my efc went from 5000 to about 9000…
The thing with the restaurant is that it the place costs like 30,000 but my dad bought it with someone else…he rents the property it’s not like he owns all of it…so I am not worried about the fatwa going further up if gross income will go down anyway… I’m gonna talk to northwestern fin aid on Monday hopefully as part of wildcat day…and I’m not completely decided on what engineering I am doing that is why NU entices me even more because of their program with first year students…

Alright I talked to my parents. Financial situation is cleared, we are probably getting a loan unless scholarship money comes from another source. I don’t think a loan will have much burden after I graduate (that is if my job prospects are secured). So at this point it’s just now overall a rigid college decision for engineering mixed with business and future graduate school possibilities. Northwestern vs. wash u vs. u of I? May 1st is coming way too soon!

Or should I just forget about engineering and go with u of c?? Lol jk.

Take the full ride at WASHU - Northwestern is great but not 48K over 4 yrs greater.
