Indenting Paragraphs

Are we supposed to indent paragraphs in the Common Application? I know the TAB key doesn't work, so I guess I could use four, five, or eight spaces to indicate an indentation.

It doesn’t really matter. You should only use an indent on the first paragraph but even without one it doesn’t really matter. I’m sure there will be thousands of un-indented essays. You should worry about bigger problems.

There isn’t a way you can as the Common App deletes extra spaces. No one indents their essays, so don’t worry about it.

No, common app is a real mutters here for indents and it really made me angry. I’m not an english major only because I’m even better at something else and it frustrated me because everything looks like a wall of text. Just leave a blank line after every paragraph.

^ It will delete the blank line was well. It is such that the spacing after each paragraph break is larger than that in between lines within the same paragraph. Just press “enter” at the end of your paragraph and start typing.
