Indian and chances at college?

Hey!

I'm new to the forums (or should I say fora), but I really Wanted to ask about whether or not the idea that is hard for Asians to get into colleges is true..... I am currently a sophmore, born in good ol' America, and I'm the child of two Indians from India, so yeah, not native American..............

I am interested in nanotechnology, and I like programming, and I was advised by one of my friends to look into Tufts, Rochester, etc.

Current GPA is 3.75, and I am currently an active member of the Cross Country (fastest time: 21:56 for a 5K) and Track Team (13:26 for the 2-mile), and I am active in the French and Science Honor Societes (I'm going for a staff position for the french one the webmaster for the science club), I participate in the tech team that handles my school's auditorium, I fold the American flag every day, I am also going for the president position in my school's environmental club.

Oh, and I'm in IB.

And I'm in the middle of AP testing, by the way:

AP World: 4
(not taken yet)AP Euro: hoping to get a 4
(Just taken today)AP English Lang: 4 or 5
(not taken yet)AP Macroeconomics: 4 or 5
(not taken yet)AP Gov: 4 or 5

I also plan on taking HL Chem, and SL Bio, along with one year of SL French and AP Computer Science for next year.

I’m asian and I don’t believe that its actually harder for Asians to get into schools (elite or not). My reason for believing this is because in every college in the USA, whites are the majority, so in order to maintain diversity, isn’t it more likely to accept an Indian or Asian kid who is more qualified than a white kid who is slightly less qualified? IDK, I feel like the saying “its harder for Asians to get into college” is over hyped. I feel like its just a rumor that started a long time ago and has existed for such a long time that it has become the “truth” and just the “way it is”

Tufts: Reach
U Rochester: Aim for 29+/2000+

Might want to consider Rice for nanotechnology, too…

The only college I know of where Asians have an advantage is Villanova, so Villanova should also be considered. Most colleges put Asians on an equal footing with whites.
