Indian Thread

My Penn interview (all of 29 minutes long) has served the purpose of reinforcing exactly why I don't want to go there. Jeez, I didn't even break the 30 minute mark

congrats akash...with stats like yours, i'm sure that u've bagged the presidential schol at drexel

such:
how was the interview? what did that guy ask?

Ritz, finally upto the huge task of posting on this thread??;)

Hi. im new to this thread (and to CC)

welcome...

ive applied to MIT and Princeton; how about you?

Welcome (and inflate your post count posting quasi-useless messages) ;)

That's it?Just 2 colleges?

Well, if im going to go all the way across the world to study, its only going to be for the best. Ive pplied there not because they are in the US but because the world seems to think that they are the best places you can study at. If i were settling for an average college, i may as well do so in In9dia. It'll probably turn out way cheaper.

And besides, i was too lazy to put my Caltech and CMU apllications through. The teacher references were a PAIN.

I was wondering how people who joined in Dec 04 have over 600 posts

:D its not tht difficult when u r postin useless and utterly senseless posts the whole day rather than study for boards (joined dec 17, 04 and 500+ posts despite of having taken 18 days vacation in between...i m so going to fail the boards...)

welcome aboard. btw guys, he is the 15xx, 2 800s guy tht hello was all freaked out abt

such - abt interview, wht happened?? penn is a damn good school. i have lived @ penn for a week (they have a hotel in their bschool) during summer of 2004 and i had a gr8 time. penn might have the best partyin scene (which is ofcourse my #1 priority :)) alongwith worldclass faculties and depts. phili is awesome as well (i like fball) lots of places to go out and have fun....

for 3-4 days i tried to stay away from this board (mourning the death of the old thread), but just couldnt do it nemore...

hey guys, i know all of us are studyin for the boards, but we got to get workin on our book asap after the boards. coz i will be going for a vacation after it, i will write the chapters tht we decide for me and pm it to yall. i think i can do resume building, college research and some portion of ec chapter...

hey rao - teachers reference??? u should have stopped by cc sooner. sucharita over here wrote teachers ref. for most of us...

my reservations about Penn?
my interviewer told me that in sophomore year when he was in one of the campus high rise apartments near the edge of West Philadelphia, he used to go to sleep to the peaceful background music of gunfire

Also he told me that most intl students get put in Hill...how's that for combating cliquishness...

party scene hmmm he said he didn't drink so I dunno, maybe he didnt go to too many parties out there...

Then he said 'what can you contribute to Penn?' to which I dearly felt like answering...'nothing pal. You'd have to pay me to go there, i need a full ride remember?
So let me obsess about Princeton in peace already!'

And I didn't write recs for anyone other than Premanjali. Over the past few months I have realized how much I hate my main EC/hook- writing. :(
And there was a point of time where I wouldnt miss a day in my diary :(

It was hell. I spent dec 15 to 24th writing myself off as gods gift to mankind, with my mind going overdrive with worry considering the fact that i had atleast 5 essays to do. I put together my app in near record time

SO TRUE! And that's why i'm afraid of applying to ONE more school (drexel). I'll see though if I just a "Principal" stamp (and maybe the school seal) is enough, rather than signatures....

Also, what about drexel's teacher refs? Do they need one, or two? Can I sent one Comp.Sci and another Physics rec?

No, dude - you don't know the all-nighter we had on the night of Jan 1st (ask akash, hello and company) it was awesome, though! :D We finished 4-5 apps on one night.

^ yes it was indeed very cool.

But so was my P'ton interview today :D
