I made this thread for those who went to 2019 Kelley DA day to talk about it…I LOVED Kelley, but felt like the campus & Bloomington were kind of desolate and sleepy. What did you think? Was that just because it was cold outside? Is campus always this surreal?
I attended Kelley DA day with my son and husband. It was our first time on campus even though DH and I grew up in the Chicago area.
In a nutshell it exceeded our expectations. Kelley did an amazing job selling their program.
I’ll start with the optional evening reception. We took advantage of the opportunity to speak with both faculty/staff and current students. The current students were amazing. Friendly, engaging and enthusiastic describes everyone with whom we spoke. Frankly, we were surprised by how much we liked the reception.
As for the program on Saturday, it was very crowded, but the care IU put into it was obvious. And again the amount of current student participation was impactful.
We did not spend a lot of time exploring the entire campus due to the weather. Our hotel was near the courthouse and we did like that area. Malibu Grill was good.
Anyway, we left with a good impression of Kelley and IU. If my son does decide to attend I would be comfortable sending him there.
As the mom of the freshman, I felt like it was it a little sleepy when we visited last winter too. Update: I visited a couple of weeks ago for a long weekend and it couldn’t have been more different. On the weekend, the nearby restaurants on Kirkwood and vicinity were busy, we went to a basketball game in Memorial Hall which was packed - and on Monday morning I offered to drive her to her 9am class and couldn’t believe how many people were out and about. The Union was busy with students, too. I guess I was where the action was this time. Believe it when they say there is something there for everyone.
My daughter participated in the Direct Admit day on Saturday. Glad you all enjoyed it!
Thank you!!
