Indiana University Bloomington vs Miami Oxford (Ohio)

I have narrowed my search down to Indiana University Bloomington and Miami Oxford. I know I'm going to major in something in the business school, but I'm not sure what yet. After undergrad I plan on continuing my education in form of JD or MBA. I am going to frat and both schools have great greek systems. I like the town, frats, and size at Indiana a little bit more, but i like the people and personality at miami a little more. Both schools are about equal for me socially; each having its pros and cons. Which one would you advise me on for educational purposes? Which school is better for future education and job Opportunities?

In Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2011 - Businessweek indiana was ranked 18 and miami 22. In some online rankings Indiana is ranked around 10.

Indiana University Bloomington - tuition is about $27,000, Like the greek system better, Like the town and size better, Kelly school of business is nationally known, better internship ops / study abroad

Miami University Oxford - 6,000 dollor scholarship, tuition is about $21,000, Like the personality and fit in with the typical miami student body, Farmer school of business very good

my parents are paying for my tuition so i have no financial burden of loans, still not sure what aid Im getting.

Im not exactly sure how much better of a school Indiana is than Miami so could you tell me? Is it worth considering the difference in my final decision?

Which one would you recommend now knowing my opinions and financial situation?

Look at the placement reports Grasshopper. It’s all there.

The Kelly SOB is definitely better, and I believe IU have better connections in the Midwest then Oxford. Have to admit, I’m quite biased towards IU B, as they have one of the best grad programs and research centres in my field. But that hardly have anything to do with undergrad education and prospects  Barrons is right, look at the placements.

where can i find the placements

Use the Google or go to each school’s site and look around. IU is easy. Miami’s is less detailed

Go where you feel most comfortable. Kelly and Farmer are both great schools with very good reputations and placement for undergrads. Here in Chicago, both schools are very well represented in middle and upper management and neither school would give you an advantage over the other.

While your question is targeted to the B schools - in your local area is one viewed as “easier” than the other? At my kids school, IU-Bloomington and Iowa are the universal safeties - about 95% admit rates. Granted, my kids go to one of the highest rated schools in Illinois, but there is a definite pecking order. Miami is viewed as harder to get into, but not quite as hard as UIUC or Madison.
