I had previously posted this over in the Summer experiences forum, and am reposting here…
My daughter (a junior) is very interested in Industrial/ Product design…the problem is, she hasn’t had any real exposure to it…Would the 1-week summer camps offered by schools such as University of Cincinnati, Auburn, SCAD be useful to help her decide? Or are they more of a fun, summer camp experience? Also, any preferences for one over the other?
.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
@FLMom2Four here’s one to look at, but I’m not sure it’s what you are looking for exactly. It’s not strictly ID but very interdiciplinary and is very design oriented.
Thank you @shoot4moon and @ormdad! I looked into both of those… wow! We decided to do a summer workshop at SCAD - she is taking ID in the mornings and Graphic Design in the afternoons… it is fairly intense (unlike some of the others), and the camp rep assured me she would come out of there with an understanding of which of the two design she wants to focus on…
@FLMom2F thanks, my son can only do session 1 or 2 and we were looking at Savanna. The Atlanta Graphic Design workshops look very focused, and I’m not sure he’d enjoy the packaging one, and there is no ID workshop. Some of the others look interesting, but he will be in a 4 week program later in the summer so we’ll probably just save some money and give him some downtime since school ends late in June anyway.
