industrial technology

Hi there,i am new to this forum.I have a question and hope forumers can help me answer my question.I am currently a junior in mechanical engineering and i am thinking of switching to industrial technology,it will not delay my graduation or anything.do anyone know do industrial technology degree have a very good demand in the world? is it easy to get a job?an internship? i am also planning to get a MBA after my degree.thanks

Do you mean industrial engineering technology? If so, it will not be as in demand as Mechanical Engineering, and will more than likely have a lower starting and average salary. Are you finding that you would rather be a technician than an engineer?

i dont know if it is the same, but this is the major i was talking about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_technology.i</a> dont mind starting with a low salary, will it help if i get an MBA for masters after the industrial tech?i already took classes like thermodynamics, circuits, materials of engineering.are there still plenty of jobs to be found? is it easy to get an internship?

Why are you wanting to switch?

i will graduate about a year faster, and i dont find anymore motivation to go on

If you like IET and want to pursue that career go for it, but don’t count on the MBA to be the savior. I know a lot of people with their MBA and it never got them out of their regular middle management job. To really leverage an MBA, honestly, it needs to be from a reputable school (top 20). Which means you need a great gpa and great experience as well. On the other hand I know some people that just needed an MBA to check the box for a position. But, for them, they were already in a highly successful career and needed a couple letters behind their name for show.

everything aside,is industrial technology the same thing as industrial engineering and when im looking for an internship i can search for jobs that is in IE? is it easy to get a job?this itech im planning to switch to is more to oil service sector as the college is in louisiana, that is what the dept head of itech told me,i only want to know what is the job and career prospective nationally and globally, salary really does not matter .and also for internships.cant find them using google

Industrial technology is not the same as industrial engineering. Though you might be able to qualify for similar jobs as an IE, I’d imagine your resume is going to go to the bottom of the stack.

I have no idea about the prospects of finding a job.
