Hi, I have a bunch of questions about getting a masters in industrial engineering and about the profession in general.

First, I have a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, and a 3.89 from a decent public school. If I do decently on the GRE will I be able to get in almost anywhere?

I have discovered that I really do not like how technical mechanical engineering is, and industrial engineering sounds so much better to me. I would really like to work for a company that makes consumer products or services like Johnson & Johnson, or Unilever, brands that people have heard of. Will having an IE degree help me get into these companies as opposed to the mech degree?

Also, Do industrial engineers make as much as mechanical engineers? Is it harder to find a job?

Should I be concerned with getting into "top" schools like Columbia or Cornell or will I have the same job opportunities anywhere?

Is industrial engineering easier than mechanical? I worked non-stop in college while I had industrial friends that were very involved in activities that I would have never had time for. How much time should I expect to spend working per week on grad school?

Does a M.eng or M.S. matter? I want to go into industry, I have no interest in phD

Finally, does anyone have any information about any of the schools I'm looking into right now?
