Info for Chinese Students Who Want to Study in USA

Agencies are not-so-good. Had a bad experience w/ one…

Do it yourself would be better.

I’m a DIY student and I’ll try my best to be recogized by my ideal university----Havard or MIT!!!

All helpful posts… My daughter is determined to do her undergraduate study in the US. I’m trying to help from my perspectives, wondering if agencies is a good to go or DIY…
Thanks!

Agencies suck. You’d better DIY if you are familiar with the application process or if you can gain help from your friends. Your daughter’s the one who knows herself best, isn’t it?

I know quite a lot about agents in China, and about the alternatives. Feel free to private message me, or find me on Skype.
Thanks.

I don’t think finding an agency will help. On the contrary, an avalanche of cases of failure that made by agencies can prove. Agencies will never deal with every detail in application as carefully as do students, since agencies work not for one but innumerable kids, and agencies can just grasp the money and hang around…

I really hate agencies because they have destroyed both students and the validity of next students…

I am CHINESE but I go to school in America. I was an exchange student last year at this private school in PA, and I loved it! So I chose to stay. I mean, I do all my application by myself. Literally, by myself because my parents are in China and I have no relatives in America. I live with host families. However, yes, there are a lot of agencies in China that help Chinese students to get through application process.

It actually depends. For some quite qualified students, agencies can help save time, but of course the actual materials have to be finished by students themselves.

Haha, I personally gained a looooot of information from CUUS~~It’s quite awesome because some successful students who go to their ideal universities or colleges offer some ‘insider view’ which is quite rare in China!

Hi, i am a chinese senior 2 student live in Urumqi, and my is MI Yongrui, i am planning to study in America, so i want to talk with elder international students about the steps to go America, and i wander whether you are willing to keep in touch with me. i am looking to receiving your reply.Thank you

DIYers literally use CUUS, Chinese Undergraduates in the United States, to exchange every information concerning applying American colleges. I think it’s very useful cause I often share information with those high school students though I am not myself.

CUUS biased?

TAISHA is useless

the post so helpful~~bump

I don’t think you need to look at any chinese websites to give you the full image of a school. english websites are plenty and enough.

CUUS is really good~

Try [url=<a href=“http://www.unelp.com%5DUNELP.com”>http://www.unelp.com]UNELP.com to get information about universities in the US and some tools for DIY. You also can exchange information with some Chinese students studying in the US.

Forums like CUUS are really helpful for DIY students~ Most agents are really money-driven. Apart from a upfront service fee, some agents even apply extra charges if the student get admitted to a good schools (there are usually price tags for different schools according to their USNEWS ranks.
