Input Needed from Chinese-Speaking CC Members

Hi, we just had some of our college counseling pages translated into Chinese, and would be happy for any feedback on the technical appearance and readability of the content. We didn't translate the entire menu system, etc., as we expect that anyone applying to U.S. schools will have reasonable English. We tried back translating to English using Google, but the results were hilarious. We hope the actual Chinese isn't that fractured. Any feedback is welcome - thanks!

Hi, Chinese speaker here. The site generally seems to have been faithfully translated into Chinese from English, but the translated Chinese name of CollegeConfidential seems to be off. "大学院校机密咨询处" (the name of CC translated into Chinese) seems to mean "University Secret Enquiries", which IMO doesn't really convey the meaning of College Confidential.

Also, I am not sure whether "评估统计" (translation of StatsEval) should have the (TM) mark as I am not sure whether the Chinese name is trademarked.

Overall, the translators seemed to have done quite a good job with it.

Yeah, the name College Confidential seems to mean "College Intelligence Service" in Chinese (awkward). I like the above poster's idea.

the chinese isnt exactly smooth, but the idea gets across and i guess it's okay

suggest to change the chinese version of CC, other things are good

University Secret Inquiries? College Spy Service? LOL...

Any thoughts on a better version? The origin of our name, by the way, was meant to imply that one could find "the inside scoop" on college admissions here.

Thanks for the feedback!

how about "mei guo da xue de mi mi"? i dont have the chinese word programme thing on my computer, sure some other cc member could translate what i just said.

美国大学的秘密

I'm not sure if 秘密 is right....

as in if you wrote mi mi correctly? it is correct.

or whether the usage of it is correct? yeah, it might be slightly different from what the OP wanted.... mei guo da xue de mi mi is more of a description; like the secret insight into america's colleges.

Hmm, any other input?

how difficult is it to put the words college + confidential together? lol Just kidding, i don't know how chinese works ,so...

How about 大學機要 ?

I don't know any chinese, btw.

i think english and chinese works different way somehow, thus the translater must be a common user of both, for example an english idiom could not be translated word by word to chinese, it will sound very funny and awkward, so i suppose anyone could give light about what does college confidential intrinsically means? MO is Important Information of Colleges. so maybe 大学机要资讯?
