Just wanted to bump this thread up and add this article explaining a little more about spring admission that SoofDad mentioned as a possible admission outcome… https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/u-mds-unusual-admissions-approach-one-out-of-every-five-freshmen-start-in-spring-term/2014/01/31/21d99a64-8794-11e3-916e-e01534b1e132_story.html
@maryversity do you know where the majority if not all spring “freshman connection” applicants come from ex- early deadline, regular deadline? I am worried about not getting in because I had to wait until the regular deadline and freshman connection would be a great opportunity.
Wow that’s a lot of people people not getting accepted for fall. Anyone know about how many are accepted for programs like scholars and honors in a class?
That is a lot of people being deferred to spring. It is just an easy way for the school to make additional money, as well as keeping their stats of accepted students high for purposes of ranking. I don’t believe that the stats of the students accepted in the deferred spring are included. Penn state does a similar thing with accepting students for the summer program, more money for them and the stats excluded.
@brooke4998 - According to last year’s EA and RD decision threads, Freshman Connection was offered to some EA applicants and some RD applicants. Good Luck
Bumping this up in the hopes people will read the first post on this thread that explains possible decision outcomes while they wait for decisions (which the university is consistently saying by Feb 1 - so, no reason to suspect they will be out sooner)…
