Info on program? Class of 2019

Our son was recently admitted as a musical theater major for this fall as a freshman. We are very excited as it seems to be the mt program with the best reputation on the west coast. Does anyone have opinions/comments about the curriculum, the “freshman experience”, the quality of teachers, the intensity of the students, how competitive the atmosphere is, do the faculty play favorites, or about the program in general? Any info would be appreciated.

Congrats to your son! He must have had a great audition. The Theatre major at UCLA only accepts 4% of its applicants, so getting in is quite an honor. Our daughter was also accepted! She is extremely excited about this program. Are you planning on taking your son to Bruins Day? Friday, April 10 is the day the School of TFT has its open house, info, tours, etc, for admitted students, and we are planning on going. Maybe you can get a better feel for it if you and your son are able to go. If there is anyone on this CC forum who has more info, or is already in the program, we would also enjoy hearing their perspective. When my daughter went to the audition/interview and sat in on the info session, she became even more interested in the program. She likes that it’s very academic as well as hands-on, kind of a hybrid BA/BFA. She is not on the musical theatre track, so I can’t comment on that specifically, but in general, I have heard only great things about the program and its reputation, so it seems like it would be very hard to pass up! Out of the 8 colleges/universities she has been accepted to so far, this one seems to be her favorite, but we are still waiting for a few more acceptances before she makes her final decision.

thanks rasidazz. yes we do plan on attendant the bruin day. i didn’t know it is april 10. did your daughter get an email? also just out of curiosity, how did you learn of the 4% acceptance rate?
