Info on the OLD SAT?

Does anyone knows where I can find informations about the old sat, about its format? I have a book for the new sat, but I'm going to take the old sat. Thank You

I believe they still sell the 10 Real SATs book(The one with the old SATs), that should do it.

I don't have time to buy a new book... I just find out that I'm taking the old sat, so I just need explanations about the sections, the format of the test, the time...

You're kidding me.The old SAT is no longer available.

^^ That .....and if you need to know, the old SAT is 3 hours long, No Essay, No error ID..basically no Writing. In Math Quantitative comparisons had been eliminated. In Verbal(Now CR) Analogies had been eliminated. So practice the Math and CR from the new SAT and somehow practice for analogies and Quantitative comparisons. All that said, I highly doubt anybody requires you to write the Old SAT and Collegeboard doesn't even administer it anymore.

As regular it isn't, but I'm taking an institutional SAT. I don't know why, but it's the old one.

Thank you Lakshya M, that's what I was looking for. I'm so happy that there isn't writing section, because my english is ... bad.

Do you know how long is each one of the sections?

Im not too sure how long each section was but all of them would be in the 20-30 minute range. Not more not less.

Try the old archived CB web pages to see if you can find some thing. Try these links.

The Old SAT was in the following format:
2 30-minute Verbal Sections
1 15-minute Verbal Section
2 30-minute Math Sections
1 15-minute Math Section
1 30-minute Experimental/Equating Section
Total: 3 hours.

I. The Verbal Section was comprised of a total of 78 questions (Normally divided into 35, 30 and 13 of the 3 scored sections) with:
A. 19 Sentence Completion Q's. - These are basically the same as on the SAT2400
B. 10 Analogy Questions - These were a pain-in-the-butt q's that gave you 2 related words and you had to find 2 words with a similar relationship. i.e
1. CRUMB:BREAD ::
a. ounce:unit
b. splinter:wood (correct answer)
c. water:bucket
d. twine:rope
e. cream:butter
C. 40 Critical Reading Questions - There were only long passages followed by questions. One 30 minute section had 2 Reading passages, the other one had 1 passage and the 15 minute section only contained 2 related passasges.

II. The Math Section consisted of 60 questions in total (Normally divided into 25, 25 and 10 of the 3 scored sections) with:
A. 35 five choice questions split between one of the 30 minute section and the 15 minute section. (Same format as on the SAT2400)
B. The other 30 minute section had:
1. 15 Quantitative Comparison Questions - This is where they gave you 2 columns (A and B) with different equations under each column. Your job was to figure out if the answer was a) Column A had a bigger value, b) Column B had a bigger value, c) Both values were equal or d) Cannot be determined ....
2. 10 Student Response (Grid-in) questions - same as it is now.
C. The math level was a bit easier. Mostly algebra and a little bit of geometry. Hard questions usually meant tricky as they do now. i.e.
1. The time is 12:20 on your analog watch. What is the inside degree measure of the two hands?
a. 90 degrees
b. 100 degrees
c. 110 degrees
d. 120 degrees
e. 130 degrees
I'll let you guys try to solve this. ;)

I hope this helps you Dimitar

Thanks !!!!!

The angle between 12 and the minute hand is 1/3 * 360 = 120.
The angle between 12 and the hour hand is 1/31/12360 = 10.
The angle between the two hands is 120-10 = 110.
