Well does anybody know if interviewers have any info apart from sat scores or very basic info concerning applicants? I mean does harv. tell them who is better than the other? For exemple in my country there are about 25 applicants, does harvard rank them when they send their names in the admissions comitee? I know that selection would not have started but do the adcoms give to the interviewer a rough image of the applicants chances or not?
Moreover, does the inter. comitee rank applicants?
Thank you for yoy time and input!

No.

I could be wrong- but the only information they get is your name, gender, contact info, high school, and intended major if you put one.

As far as the ranking I can't answer that- I only know about Yale.

I've had two alum interviews with Harvard, and all they knew was my name and high school. I was asked to provide them with my SAT/SAT II/AP scores, probably so that they could check them against their records later. I'm interested in journalism and both of my interviewers were journalists, but neither realized this beforehand...I'm guessing that whoever assigns interviewers to applicants does their best to pair people with matching interests, but the interviewers aren't given any substantial info.

"I'm guessing that whoever assigns interviewers to applicants does their best to pair people with matching interests,"

Harvard actually asks the alum who assign applicants not to try to match applicants to alum inteviewers. Some alums may, however, choose to ignore that request.

Really? Wow...in my case, either they ignored that request, or it was a really big coincidence that I got two journalists!

all the interviewer gets is name, high school, e-mail address, phone number, intended major, and indicated extracurricular interests from the harvard supplement

the applicants are 100% randomly assigned to interviewers, so they don't try to match up similar interests etc.

something that sets harvard interviews apart from most other ivy league interviews is that the interviewers are asked to evaluate applicants on academics, extracurriculars, etc. in addition to personal/character qualities, while most other prestigious schools (like yale) only ask their interviewers to write a summary of the applicant's vibe/personality/confidence/etc.

my dad does harvard alumni interviewers so that's why i randomly know this

So does Yale rank the applicants to decide who gets an interview? I ask because two people at my school got called for an intereview but a third did not. Is that because they rank who should be intereview? THANKS.

i don't know as much about yale
but i'm virtually positive that the adcoms don't do any ranking/deciding before assigning interviews

i'm pretty sure it's just that, once the admissions office gets the applications, they assign as many people as possible to get interviews... before even looking at them

i think that, since this year has a record number of applicants everywhere, a lot of people aren't getting interviewed

i applied to cornell CAS and i know 3 of my friends at my school have been interviewed but i haven't been contacted yet... i think it's really just random
