I was recently accepted to Loyola MD after applying pretty much on a whim. I haven't visited the campus yet, and I really don't know much about the school at all, but I received a pretty substantial scholarship which has definitely caused me to give Loyola serious consideration. I was wondering if anyone familiar with Loyola could give me some information on classes, campus life, etc?

when did you hear from loyola md? my d likes it alot has yet to hear. very nice campus. lots of smiles seems very friendly atmosphere. hope others respond with more info too...

i applied early action and found out in mid-january. if your daughter applied regular she should be finding out pretty soon!

my d loved the place about 15 minutes into our visit. funny we had spent 8 hrs at Goucher the day before. loves the campus, got a good feeeling from the students. it has gone from safety to liking Loyola a lot.

my sis just got into loyola today...super excited but hasn't visited the campus. j2b2 what did your d like so much about it? did you get a chance to see the dorms? how were they?

dncrgirl102: great question, here goes--we had spent the previous day, 9 hours all told, at goucher. her uncle, a harvard grad from way back, had insisted she look there. d liked it ok, but felt goucher was just too small. we walked on the loyola campus to find an open house well underway. while we could have participated, she chose to walk around and see things for herself. after about a half hour, she said 'dad, i'm good; i can definitely see myself going here.' now that she has been accepted we plan on arranging an overnight if possible. we've been on the 'college tour' for 2 years; conn college, slu, hws, owu, skidmore; d says loyola 'feels right'. that's the best, most straight forward answer i can offer...

re: The freshman dorms are really, really nice with a/c. They are also across from the library (very nice too) and in a separate part of campus from upper class housing.

I thought the campus was really nice. Very open. We really liked the engineering department and labs. The professors seemed very committed to their field and the students.

my d got accepted (was her #2 choice but now thinks she may want to stay closer to home - we are about a 3 hr drive away but she says too far for her) Still waiting to hear from her #1 which should be next week.
