Infraction

Hello,

I have been accepted to college- just recently received news of an ivy acceptance, and I’m in the process of choosing between that admissions decision and another offer which included acceptance into a hefty scholarship and social program at a different school. Needless to say, I have been able to breathe a sign of relief.

Just recently, within the last 24 hours, however, I parked my car in a park after dark (not knowing that this was not allowed, as there were no signs up) just briefly. I was not doing anything else illegal- no drugs, alcohol, etc., but it was just my luck to have a policeman drive by an give me a “complaint,” an infraction for being parked there after dark. It was obviously not a moving violation- the only charges were what I assume to be classified as a parking violation (if I am wrong about this please let me know, I’m not sure if an infraction for this is a parking violation, but I think that it is), and the only punishment was a $75 fine. There are no insurance hikes, nothing other than the small fee.

My question is this- is this something that could get my acceptances taken away from me, or even the scholarship from the second school that I mentioned? Is it something that I have to tell the school about, or is it really not a big deal for them? Obviously this isn’t much of a big deal- just ignorance of the law on my part- but I don’t know how this may affect my acceptances in terms of them getting revoked.

Thank you very much for your time

Any help would be appreciated. I would hate for all my hard work to go down the drain because of a misunderstanding

No, nothing will happen to you

@CDOESenior2k16 so no need to report anything either? Thank you!

Other reassurances/conflicting opinions would be appreciated

No college is going to care if you have a parking ticket! Lol! And no, you don’t need to report it.

If he didn’t need your driver’s license, registration, and insurance information to write the ticket, it is a parking violation. A parking ticket would just have the vehicle license plate info. A parking ticket is a violation against the vehicle not the driver. You have absolutely nothing to worry about.
Enjoy the weekend!

No need to repeatedly bump (which I deleted); you’re not going to get any info different from the above. As long as you don’t get D’s or below, get arrested, or lied on your application, your acceptance will not be rescinded. Relax.

You’re fine. If there was a dope slap function, I fear @skieurope would have used it on you. Congrats. Enjoy your senior year and last summer at home! Loosen up a bit.

Thank you everyone. Turns out it was an infraction for being in the park after dark, not a parking ticket. I think your answers apply just as well to this case, hopefully. Thank you for your help- I suppose it was just my ignorance of the subject which frightened me. Hopefully an infraction isn’t a problem.
