Injured but afraid of doctors?

Im not sure if this belongs here but im in high school xD

So i think i rolled my ankle 2 months ago but it didnt swell/hurt/bruise/etc. Just recently, it started hurting. Its not my ankle that hurts though, theres this lump by the arch of my foot which feels like a bone. I dont have one on my other foot. I can walk, but over the course of this week, its been getting more painful. When i walk i have a dull pain. I play varsity tennis, and i've been playing all week. The weird part is, when I actually play tennis, my foot doesnt hurt. But as soon as im done playing, my foots in pain. Also, when i tilt my foot sideways, i feel pain, but only when i tilt it.

Im afraid to go to the doctors because 1.) I hate attention that an injury causes 2.) I hate crutches, id be so embarassed in school.

Any advise? I havnt told anyone about this. Thanks :3

Are you seriously afraid to go to the doctor because you’re embarrassed by crutches?

Never try and be a tough guy when it comes to injuries. You don’t necessarily have to go to the doctor, but if you are in pain that is getting worse, sit out for a little bit. I put myself out of sports and lifting weights for 3 months for my sprained back for what should have only been a couple weeks because I exacerbated it by being stubborn and trying to work on it while it was damaged.

oh gross, now i feel sick… that thing about the lump

but go to the doctor. it’s gonna get worse. and if you need crutches, you’ll only prolong needing them by neglecting treatment

Dont you have a athletic trainer at your school? Anyway, I ignored pain in my hip and it ended up being a fracture. I ran on it for weeks after feeling intense pain; I didn’t see a doctor, and even though I could hardly walk without crying… I kept running in track meets because I was the 2nd best middle distance runner on the team. I made it so bad that I was out for the rest of the season and nearly all of the summer. My 5K time is 2 minutes slower than last year; don’t make the mistake I did. The worse you make it the longer you’ll be on crutches
