Hello everybody, I'm a high school senior that has gotten accepted to a bunch of schools, but will most likely end up at Northeastern University. I'm thinking about doing their finance program and I have a few questions that I'm hoping you guys can answer.

Firstly, what math do you have to take as a finance major and how difficult is this math? How difficult would a finance program be in general? Most importantly however, did you enjoy your finance program? Do you think it was worth it?

Thanks in advance.

Anybody wanna answer? You do, yes you. Do it.

Just to preface, I am a senior in finance graduating in May.

Everyone is different, but my suggestion is to take as much math as possible. I took Calc I, II, III, a theory of interest class and a couple of stats classes and I still wish I was able to take more. Hopefully when I come back to school in a couple years I will have that opportunity.

As far as difficulty, it depends on you. If it comes natural, it may be easy for you, but it still may not. Either way, do it because you like it. Another suggestion would be don’t get sucked into taking the so-called “easy classes.” Challenge yourself and even if you have to work harder than some of your friends that are taking the easier route, hopefully it will pay off down the line.

Overall, I would say that I have enjoyed finance and I want to get out there and get to work! Depending on what you want to do, a masters in finance, MBA, or the CFA exam all may be an option down the line. College isn’t the end of learning, it’s just the beginning.
