Inside scoop of Colgate University

Hey everyone,
I am a junior in high school, who recently began his college search. One of my matches was Colgate. I di some research and initially saw great things: Great academics, beautiful campus, attractive people, Lots of activities to do on campus, etc. It is also only about 3 -4 hours away from me. This means I will be close to home, which is important, however not as important as other qualities of the school. I go to a high school with about 70 kids in my graduating class, so a 3k is pretty big. I began to read some reviews and a lot of students were saying that its very cliquey and The only way to have a good time is to get black out drunk. I am not one for drinking a lot and don’t plan on getting drunk every night of the week in college. Also is it as cliquey as some say? I also read the the students are snobby and arrogant. I would much rather go to a school where people are accepting. Finally, and this is going to sound very superficial, but are the girls as hot as everyone says? I hope to hear from a current student as most of what i could find was from a few years ago. Thanks for any help.

Also how good is the food and dorm

It would appear that you are close enough to visit Colgate and form your own views about the setting and its community. So why not make an overnight visit in the next few months?

In the meantime, continue to research your options. I have found Colgate’s website very useful since it offers a most comprehensive and easy to use tool regarding the university’s courses and extracurricular offerings. It compares very favorably to other schools’ distance learning tools, in my opinion.

Good luck with your college search!

you are right about alot. as a student at colgate, i am considering transferring due to the social scene. the professors and faculty are great, but the students are exactly what you describe. its a bummer because it is such a great school

I am so sorry to hear katyblack. My ds graduated there last year. He had the time of his life despite being an international. He was not the party type either. Good luck on your transfer.

There are plenty of LACs to consider with less of a party scene, a bit smaller, that are beautiful, friendly, and academically enriching. Don’t settle for something that doesn’t seem to be the right fit for you.
