Inside the room during college admission (youtube video)

Inside the Room During a College Admission Decision - YouTube

lol.. I just found and watched this 2 min video and honestly it's really interesting.

Since this video shows Amherst, I guess many prestigious unis do similar process.

So...I guess it goes like that.
1. They divide apps into geographical regions
2. 2 ppl read and weed out rejections according to academic stats (GPA,SAT), and qualified apps move on to 2nd round
3. More people gather in 2nd round and choose either accept/waitlist more based on essays,ECs... (interesting family story helps here according to video :P )

and I know this can't be generalized, I guess AP scores ARE considered in admission..

AND it seems like interesting personal (family) stories play huge important role here..

The process is specific to one school.

Watch this panel discussion from Jan. 2013 with admissions officers from a bunch of colleges including Harvard, Tufts, MIT, BU, UMass Amherst. It’s long but very detailed!
