i was wondering if there are any musically oriented people here. i don't intend on doing music as a core curriculum at uf, but i have some background in piano and i was wondering if there are classes you can take for piano so i can continue to play while i'm at uf and possibly get a music minor....

I’m honestly not musically minded at all, but I did some checking. The Music Department offered a few piano classes without pre-reqs that were open to non-Music Majors for 2 or 3 credit hours apiece.

If you scroll down that link it appears to me that MVK 1411, MVK 2421, or MVK 3431 would be the type of class you’d be interested in, depending on your skill level.

I also popped over to ISIS to look up the requirements for a Music Minor. All of them require 18 credit hours with at least a handful of them being in Music Appreciation or Music Theory courses. It’s an option for you if you happen to have some leeway in your degree; it really depends on what you intend to study and how quickly you intend to graduate.
