I hear so much stuff about Intel v. AMD when it comes to the CPU stuff...

Well, I'm buying a computer soon (most likely a notebook), and.... well, all I know is that Intel's pentium M is the processor to have for notebooks right now, i think.

Anyway, what are the good cpus these days? please keep in mind that i am a computer dummy. thanks!

Go for the Pentium M with a enough storage space and these days, I believe 512MB ram is the standard. I'm pretty much a "computer dummy" to but I heard Dell offers great notebooks. But I'm pretty sure some people would tell you that other brands are better.

there isnt much of a difference between amd and intel in mid to low range stuff. plus, you wont have many options when getting a notebook anyways. The stuff you hear about is always the high end stuff that video editors, photographers, and gamers want because they need the speed.

Generally AMD pwns Intel with ease in things like gaming, etc (It's the only important thing anyways right? ;)). However, AMD is generally left in the dust when it comes to multitasking, due to Intel's Hyperthreading technology on its dual core processors.

theleetinator, they've released the X2 chips already. It's expensive.

Honestly speaking, just get a fair decently priced laptop. You're not kidding anyone if you want to appear you can play games with your laptop. If games are important, then get a desktop. But honestly, more isn't exactly better for laptops since the curve for performance for dollar drastically rises for smaller technolegical devices such as laptops.
