"Intelectually Exciting" Essay Topic

What is everyone else writing about? And also would it be unwise to write about a controvercial topic (ie. stem cell research etc)? Thanks

If you can make a controversial topic interesting, then go for it. But I don't think you can express your opinions fully in 250 words.

yea i was thinking the same thing... do you think "space travel" would serve to be an adequate topic because i do find that interesting?

I thought it was supposed to be something that relates to you, otherwise I would have chose time travel.

Hrmm, so for that question they want us to explain a controversial issue?

No, you don't have to explain a controversial issue, just something that intellectually excites you, be it Taylor series, Shakespeare, or philosophy. As for discussing potentially controversial subjects, just try to maintain a respectful tone. Understandably, most people have an opinion on stem-cell research (if you didn't have one, you probably shouldn't write about it), but even if yours differs from the adcom's, you can still write an effective essay on the subject. HTH :)

What if I wrote about my first dissection? Does that count as "intellectually exciting"?

I'm writing about composing a piano piece.

Goldfish, I think the dissection idea is entirely appropriate. I wrote mine about my interest in the brain, spurred on by cadaver examination in my CC anatomy class.
