Stanford students are widely known to possess a sense of intellectual vitality. Tell us about an idea or an experience you have had that you find intellectually engaging.

would saying I'm really interested in childhood obesity and nutrition count? I don't know if this falls under an 'idea' and it's no an 'experience'

can anyone further explain they mean by an intellectually engaging idea/experience? Like could a fascinating museum exhibit count? I've never done research, internship, or anything like that

:) ...I saw this movie "core" and I thought cool! :D
if I build this vehicle and go to the center of earth -------- and then
keep on going I can find my way to the other side of the earth.
Except we live on this big sphere. right ??

But... if the earth is really not a sphere then how doe we find it's center
.... we would not know what is the exact opposite side.

NOW THAT IS WHAT I FIND INTELLECTUALLY EXCITING... HE HE he

Thanks JDorian!...see eilatan175 we are already having this intellectually
stimulating cross-posting.....oblate
spheroid and finding it's center .....

my subtle ;) point being intellectuality is not necessarily a constrained topic :)
....almost every line of human inquiry is bound to turn up 'intellectually
exciting crossroads' we can explore?

I think fascinating museum exhibit is probably a better topic then childhood obesity and nutrition for showing intellectual vitality (unless you have something revolutionary to say about obesity, rather then "eat healthy, exercise regularly")

What interests you about childhood obesity and nutrition? How to prevent childhood obesity (as in how to get children to eat healthy and exercise) is certainly a challenging question. There are people who study this for a living in a university setting, so I think it counts.

the musem exhibit was the Plastination (plastisizing actual human parts) It's fairly famous. I thought it was cool (and creepy)

obesity and health...I dunno what 'exactly' interests me. I like looking at nutrition (it's like now complusive) and reading articles about cafeteria lunch in school and why kids today are getting fatter and fatter.
