Intellectually Engaging

I wrote the first short essay. I think it fits the prompt, but I don't know exactly what "intellectually engaging" is. So is anyone willing to read my essay (it's short, thus "short essay") and tell me if you get the feeling that it doesn't fit into the prompt?

I'm not going to explain anything here because admissions people don't get my explanation anyway.

Here is the prompt btw

Stanford students are widely known to possess a sense of intellectual vitality. Tell us about an idea or an experience you have had that you find intellectually engaging.

I second alohasam. My son is getting crazy over this prompt. can anyone give some examples? we are international and dont really understand this.

thank you

In other words, in layman's words that is, intellectually engaging can be said to or can be referred to an experience/idea which really Enthralls you or that just amazes you and that experience/idea indeed define ''yourself'' or a large part of ''you''..For example, if you are a Science Enthusiast, you can always give examples about the simplest and most common things that fascinates you and encourages you to be a ''Science Enthusiast''...
This is just one of the most ''uncommon'' example out of the ''common'' world..:)..

thank you for making it clear ^

It really depends on what you find "intellectually exciting" What stimulates your mind? Is it an idea you've had about this project? Is it some abstract concept you've been pondering over? It's really what you make of it.

If you send me your essay, I can look over it and give you some tips.

I need help with this prompt, too. Does it have to be a one-time experience or can it be something you do on a regular basis?
Can crossword puzzles be considered intellectually engaging?

^ YES! That is a beast of a response. I ALMOST did one on Sudoku!

but mine is on a one-time thing. It's about the fact that I'm a huge humanities/literature nerd, but when my math teacher gave me an assignment titled "Truth and Beauty in Mathematics: the Aesthetics of Numbers," he sort of opened my eyes to the connections between academic areas. I like it :)

lol I almost did one that included a point AGAINST sudoku. Except that was one of my earlier drafts I threw away months ago.

Mine was a one-time thing about my windmill project in 8th grade and my thought processes of innovation and all that. Wasn't too terribly creative, but I know the ideas I presented in there were unique

I talked about the process of doing my Extended Essay for IB. First paragraph is about choosing my topic and the second is the process. I mention how I enjoyed the process and also that my favorite subjects are Math and Physics.

I totally agree with frutiaspice. it is what you make of it, an academic expirience, poetry.
some creative idea that is unique and how you represent it. It could be something you do on a regular basis too, again how you make of it.

How can you decide on one thing that is intellectually engaging when the whole world is full of them?
