I have heard all about the "vandygirls", the parties, and the overall social life at Vanderbilt University. And it sounds awesome, but I was wondering how intellectual the students are... Can anyone, preferably current students, elaborate on the this?

I am currently a freshman at Vandy (and I’m also from Eastern Washington!), and my answer is yes, there is a very high sense of intellectualism, both from students and professors. Even with the branded party image, Vanderbilt students are nevertheless extremely bright and intelligent, and are constantly engaged in philosophical and academic discussions and debates. Professors are obviously extremely intellectual, and play host to a number of these discussions as well. You will not be disappointed by all the intellectual, as well as social, opportunities at Vanderbilt - it is all here.
