Intels-how are you mailing your stuff?

Woooh, Lakshmi, I didn't even notice when you broke through the 1,000 barrier.

When you mailing your Vassar and other 1/1 apps?

yes, $7 thro DHL. The company my dad works for sends large shipment thro DHL frequently, so they get a 60% discount. So...my dad sent my application thro' his company and hence the $7

you are damn lucky man....it cost me Rs 950 ($21) per package

damn 21$ per package is a lot. what about other services such as Blue Dart, UPS, Fed-Ex?

don't know about others but i suppose others too will fall in the same range....

i just checked up my courier status and in the UMich one it says "Consignee premises closed"...how the hell is that possible?? aren't they expecting apps to come at this time??

what???

thats weird..they're prolly on break....and i think u;ll be fine as long as the post marked date is before the deadline..

-taj

gosh that's so cheap. I spent around $5 sending only my part of the application via regular registered mail... which doesn't take any responsibility for lost items (it hasn't failed me though :))

I didn't send anything registered...
so 3 dollar per package * 14 apps= 42 dollar

and will arrive at the colleges within 5 days

u sent everything in one package? I used 5 envelopes per sch... one for my part of the application, one for final sch report, 2 for teacher rec, and one for finaid forms... (except wesleyan which requested everything to be sent in one package) can imagine how much that costs...

No I just send only my app, I'll mail the finaid forms next week

my school was kind enough to pay 100 dollar for the packages of teacher recs and school report

Def, you're so lucky. My school pays nothing unless you're a scholarship student there. Then they pay for the SAT's and TOEFL, give you application fee waivers and I think somehow pay for the mailing of the applications even though it's given to the student to send themselves. I really envy those who attend schools who pay for at least some/all of the recommendation mailing.

I sent everything in one packet. Huge A5 envelope (because recs and transcipt in a sealed A4 envelope) and finaid forms and...oh all things...bubble wrap glued on the inside of the huge envelopes... But it felt cute to stroke it. blush Size + weight = $??

My school paid to have the recs and the school report mailed. They even offered to mail all of my stuff too. But of course by then I had already sent it myself. Just a few days too early.

@Izzyj, were the schoolreports and the recs in the same envelope??

my school send it all in one envelope.... I wonder if that is a problem..

Yeah, they were all in the same envelope. If it's work for your school for years (as it has for mine), then it can't be a problem. :)

Actually I told them to put in one envelope... because It would saved them money... to send it in one package

today i dhl-ed my vassar app for 25euro. damn, that's the highest price anyone in the thread has paid...

i tnt-ed my ed app for $30.. oh wait.. we got a 30% discount.. still tht's a lot comparted to some of you.

Def, I'm sure it's fine so long as they sealed it.

Everybody else: Are we playing the "who has to pay the most for mailing fees"? I think we can all agree living overseas puts a serious dent in our budget when it comes to mailing the app. Then there are some schools which charge intels higher than domestics for app fees...

I hope they sealed it.....
what if they didn't ... will they reject the recss
