Do people with degrees in interdisciplinary majors in general have an even harder time finding employment than others?

I'm concerned that many employers would value a more recognizable degree (like a degree in English or Communication) over an interdisciplinary one (such as Narrative Studies, which is what I'm interested in majoring in).

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I doubt they’ll care very much, and if they’re in your field, they very well may be able to get an idea of what you’re major involved from the name. You could easily explain your major in your interview or cover letter (if you really felt the need to) or you could include some relevant courses that you took on your resume (if you wanted to highlight it). I doubt it will make that significant of a difference. If you have relevant work experience, the name on your degree will matter much less. In general, there tends to be flexibility in what degree companies will hire, unless you’re in a field that requires a particularly specialized skill set
