Interdisciplinary Degree and Employers

I am considering doing an interdisciplinary degree. Throughout my college experience, i have had difficult time choosing a major. I have narrow my interests down to 2 things. Helping people and health. Im currently in a Human Service major and wish to do an interdisciplinary in Human Services and Holistic Health. I was applying to an allied health program and have done some psychology and anatomy courses.

I dont know much about how interdisciplinary degrees are viewed in the job market. I envision that i would have to explain and sell myself. Is it worth it? Or should i finish human services and get my masters.

The official title of my major many years ago was interdisciplinary studies . I primarily combined two areas of interest (journalism and environmental science) as a concentration. On my resume, I listed not just interdisciplinary studies as my major, but the two fields as well. While I didn’t get my dream job right out of school, after several years I did get a job that fit those two fields perfectly.

Be prepared to be able to explain to employers why you feel it was beneficial to focus in two areas and how that adds value to you as an employee. I actually think it makes you more marketable. I’m not that familiar with your field, but I think the two areas you name dovetail nicely.
