Hi everyone,
USF is my top choice right now and I plan to apply as a nursing major. I was wondering about the stats of current nursing majors and if you got any merit scholarships. I’m not eligible for financial aid but I would need a significant merit scholarship to allow me to go to USF. Even though USF is my top choice, I cannot justify its price without scholarships.
I’m also interested in your opinion of the nursing program and what you liked/disliked about it.
My stats:
GPA: 4.1/4.25 uw. I’m in the IB program.
Old SAT: total 1990 = 690 M, 670 R, 630 W
EC: volunteering at hospital, volunteering at art class, volunteering at animal shelter, violin, school newspaper
I have heard that students can get scholarships up to $22,000. What do you think are my chances of getting a scholarship?
I was accepted into the nursing program beginning this fall; had very similar stats, with the addition of varsity sports and tutor volunteering/job, and a slightly higher sat/act score. I got a $19,000 scholarship. Applied EA
Thank you for your reply @guest09876 ! Could you tell me what your SAT score was? I know that other things are taken into account, not only scores, but since I’m planning to retake it this fall, it’d be good for me to have a goal. I visited USF this summer and I really liked the campus and the sim lab was really cool. Did you decide to go to USF this fall? Why?
My SAT score was 2060 and my ACT was 32. I did decide to go to USF because it is a direct nursing major, so I won’t have to reapply to nursing school after two years. I also really liked the campus/program. The location in the city also sealed the deal for me.
Go to their website and search for Common Data Set. It will have the average stats for enrolled students.
@1bostonterrier Also, I am not exactly sure about the stats for nursing students, but they are significantly higher than the stats of the rest of the school. During a nursing info session, the school said that they only admit 150 students a year.
