<p>Not surprised. Student housing, on and off grounds, is fairly scrunched together. Also, the bus system/saferide make walking home late at night nearly impossible</p>

<p>Woe, I’m glad that UVA is ranked so highly in terms of safety, but I certainly always keep my guard up in CVL as some parts of the city can be tricky.
On Grounds crime is probably so low because UVA has such a well respected and attentive security guard/system, IMHO.</p>

<p>I’m sure the Honor System despite its flaws also keeps the crime level down as well.</p>
