We are using mydropbox tonight to submit our research papers for lit. and i found a way to see everyone in my classes submission. So far, out of 10 papers, I have the lowest plagiarism % at 1% plagiarized suspect but it's really just a quote they found quoted somewhere else, so it's gay. The highest I see on the list is a 65% plagiarized...we can read the papers too to see how they compare...I think it's a glich because only the teacher should be able to do that...we can delete papers also.....

You should delete all the "very plagarized" papers, and wage a war.

I wish we had MyDropBox. We're using turnitin.com and we can't see anything.

The problem with deleting is I don't know if there is I have to be logged in to do it and I don't want to be caught..oh yeah, someone just beat me with 0%, but I'm gonna resubmit soon because I'm anal and won't accept 1%. Some kid posted something purposely 100% plagiarized but put a disclaimer: This is not my real report. Do not count this for my grade. I thought it was funny. Yeah My DropBox is CRAZY!!!

My teacher used turnitin.com before, but she submitted all of them herself :p

We don't use either. I hadn't heard about them till I came to CC.

We do not use plagiarism services, mainly because it would be too many things to evaluate. Besides, we have different forms of citing sources in different classes.

^^you shouldn't have different forms...why don't you use MLA?

what IS MLA, by the way

I do pray that's a joke...right?

no, i'm serious.

how can you not know what MLA is? that's like not knowing what milk is.

Modern Literary Association

Modern Language Association..it's how you're supposed to do all high school research papers (the format) unless you use APA format which is mostly for some college level papers.

We do use it, but the ninth graders do not. They use the ancient form of quotes and bibliography as external citation.

Well, I've never done a research paper before, but I'm doing this big project now and the works cited page has to be in MLA format.

How does your school prepare anyone for college at that rate? Your first paper is going to be senior year?

Yeah. I'm a junior now, but our project doesn't count as a research paper. Next year I have to do one in Honors English. How are we prepared for college? Umm... most people go to a CC first to make the transition easier. I'll be taking classes there this summer/next year, so I'll probably be okay when I go to University.

So the HS does not do the prep, the CC does. Wonderful way to show reponsibility...

There is an advanced diploma with supposedly higher standards/more work...
