Interlochen Arts Academy

I was wondering if anyone had been accepted or have auditioned/going to audition for Interlochen Arts Academy as a theatre major for the next school year. I was just accepted for theatre and would love to talk to anyone else going!

This is our son's first year at Interlochen (junior, 1st year theatre major) and he is LOVING it. He has found his nitch! The school is magical! Not only are the academics INCREDIBLE (12-15 kids in a class) but the acting and musical theatre classes for him has been AMAZING. He is learning so much and is thriving. It was the right choice for him. He got into the musical "Chicago" which will go on May 12,13,14. He is thrilled to work with serious, committed students who LOVE acting and professors that are TOP in their field. He takes advanced math with the woman who wrote the book and has an amazing English teacher with his master's from Harvard. His counselor is top notch and the acting department is the best in the nation in a high school program. He spends his free time jamming and singing with kids from around the world and making connections. I'm thrilled this type of high school is available to our children who are passionate about the arts.

Interlochen Arts Academy is fantastic! I attended their summer program and my friends who attend the school tell me it's an invaluable experience. A few of my fellow NFAA ARTS finalists were from Interlochen and they were incredibly talented performers. If you go to Interlochen, you will undoubtedly be in good hands. However, a recommendation: If you're taking voice lessons, take from someone in the voice department, rather than the theatre department. You'll get much better results.

I would like to go back to the original post and to aspiringactress's attempt to get back to IAA. Is it possible to pull all the post that are completely unrelated to the topic heading -IAA - off this thread?
I would like to hear more from those who are attending or considering attending IAA and I am not really interested in yet another discussion of how people rank personally or otherwise different MT programs. There is a thread for that already.

NOTE FROM COLLEGEMOM....I have split the thread and left the posts talking about Interlochen here. An Interlochen parent, FrozenChosenAK had asked another poster about what he knew about CCM, CMU, UMichigan and NCSA and a disussion ensued. I have moved that discussion to its own thread entitled: "Questions RE: CCM, CMU, NCSA, and UMichigan."

I go to IAA...frozenchosen, I'm assuming you are Tyler's mom. And Matt...you must know Chase and Loralee!

It's a great place to be...I would recommend it for anyone. And I'd also say the same for voice lessons as Matt recommended...but either way you are in good hands.

CHASE AND LORALEE ARE SUCH AMAZING PEOPLE and great performers. Lora Lee is stunning and an enormously talented singer and Chase made me cry with his Laramie project monologue.

Thank you so much for splitting the thread.
