Are Interlochen summer camps selective? How hard is it to get into the summer camps?

They are selective, and it’s a gigantic application. However, everyone we know who applied to the summer program was accepted. If I recall correctly there are also levels…choir, Mt, etc.

Thanks. My son got in. I was just wondering how selective. Regardless, I hear it is a great program. My S is a junior, will be a senior and just caught the bug this year so he has been training nonstop to get ready for college auditions This is a crazy ride :-). Thanks for getting back!

Is your son an MT kid? They are doing Les Miserables this summer; I’m sure he’ll have a great time and get lots of valuable training! Interlochen was my son’s “home” for 5 summers (he’s a cellist) and he has very fond memories of his time there.

My D did the three week MT Workshop there last year. She felt that the kids were all very talented and they could move at an advanced pace. She loved the program is returning to the three week MT program again this summer. It is a special place.

My S is a MT kid. I wish we could afford the 3 wk or more program, but can’t so he is doing the 1 week college audition intensive.

@tmygirl – he will love it. We all do what we can! This summer stuff is expensive and auditions next year are going to be brutal!

My S just caught the MT bug after his first musical in Feb. he has been a jock his entire life and after the Spring musical he was smitten…so he has been taking nonstop dancing singing and acting classes. He is driven and focused and I am now broke LOL! I guess it is time to buckle up for a crazy ride!

@tmygirl My friend is in the same boat… her S just decided that MT is his path… end of junior year. He is my S’s best friend. So they are excited to run the race together! Crazy ride, indeed!
