I got into the interlochen arts camp for music (i play horn) and I wanted to know if it was any good. The horn teacher has a good reputation, but I don't know much else. If you've been to Interlochen, especially in music(especially horn!) could you give your insights? Thanks.

It is an amazing place......has had some turmoil in last year as they have a new director, financial crisis & schedule changes. How long would you be attending? Do you know which "group" you would anticipate auditioning into? This will be the first year that highschool students are not required to commit to 8 weeks so the WYSO will be very different. Are you planning to be a professional musician?

If I go, I'll be attending the full six week session(I'm a sophomore). I don't know what WYSO is...Part of going to Interlochen would be to see if I wanted to pursue music further (I don't know about going pro...)

I was 3rd chair in all-northwest orchestra (selected from 7 states or so) if that helps to see about where I am.

bump. There has to be at least a couple of interlochen people out there. Isn't it a pretty big program?

Highest level of orchestra........

i saw this thread and thought it was about switzerland. there is a tiny little town in switzerland named interlochen. or maybe it was in germany, i cannot remember it was one of the two. so i have no idea what interlochen music camp is, but i felt compelled to post this anway.

Hazmat-what's a typical day like? What instrument do you play? How large are the groups? How many people are accepted? Please tell me as much about it as you can. Thanks.

My last bump. Anyone that's ever gone please PM me. Thanks.
