Internal Interview...more difficult?

I just started working in a large insurance company about 6 weeks ago, I started as a temp and my contract was for 3 months, this contract would end in October. I've been told by my boss and my collegues I've been doing a very good job so I shouldn't worry about getting my contract extended or made permenant.

Someone in my team is leaving the company very soon and the other day my boss told me that they would like me to apply for the position. I was completely shocked as I thought she had come to talk about extending my temporary job! I decided to apply as I would like a permemant position and a much better salary but now I'm really nervous about the interview.

Whenever I've had an interview before, to make myself less nervous I've always told myself it doesn't matter if it doesn't work out or you do really badly because your not going to see these people again but now my interview is with my boss and another senior person on the team I would be working with. I'm usually really realxed in interviews and have only ever had 2 serious interview but got offered the job both times. But now I feel like its so much more difficult to be interviewed by people I've been working with and if i didn't get the job then I would still be working with them in my tempoarary role so I feel like I really don't want to mess it up!

any advice on how to handle a job interview with a boss you already know?

It is a great sign that your boss asked you to apply. Dress nicer on interview day than normal - have copies of resume. Make sure you convey in the interview how much you love the company and plan to stay for a long time. Don't assume they already know things about you - still play yourself up. Make sure and get across that you are a "team player". And relax. Good luck!

Don't forget to update your resume with the accomplishments from this current position. Not everyone who may be interviewing you will know what you have been doing. .
