Internal Suspension

In 8th grade (middle school) I drew a little picture of a teacher with a knife and blood and called him a child molester. I was given an "internal suspension," which basically meant that I sat in the office for half a school day. Is this serious enough to check the "Yes" box for the "Have you ever incurred serious disciplinary action or been suspended, dismissed, or placed on probation from school, or been away from school for any length of time other than school vacations?"? And if it is, how should I explain it?

I feel quite anxious now, as I never thought that something I did in a moment of anger would follow me for 4 years.

Thank you for any advice.

Hm... sounds to me like you're more likely to end up in Sing Sing than a university, you criminal.

8th grade? Did you also get sent to the corner once in 3rd grade for tattling? I hate to break it to you, but your school doesn't give a damn about what went on prior to high school. Don't bother checking it. Besides, how would they even know?

Apparently, it's on my discipline record? Do admissions officers see that?

Your high school record, or your middle school record?

It's either on my middle school record or I have one discipline record for both. At any rate, my high school teachers have access to it. =</p>

I would check which one

Honestly, it's SINCERELY doubtful that it's on your high school record. But, check just to be sure.

Otherwise, no, don't worry. Even if it is on your record and you have to explain it, I SINCERELY doubt that it will even be a second thought in your application. It's so pathetically unimportant, and I can't see admissions people thinking, "Gee, she was in trouble once in 8th grade? Well, guess we can't admit her!"

A lot of things that are on your "permanent record" from middle school are simply not communicated to universities when you apply, so I'd not worry so much.

Unless you had done a major crime like murder, I don't think that colleges will care at all about what happened in 8th grade. They usually ask about things that happened starting in 9th or 10th grade.

At first I read your post as you had drawn blood FROM a teacher and I was thinking, whoa.

Reread it. I understand now, lol. I doubt adcoms would see something from MS...
