Has anyone had experience in transferring internally to Communications? I applied last semester before completing the ADV318J course. I successfully attained the required grade and now I'm just waiting nervously to hear from admissions on June 9th. So my question is, has anyone applied to transfer and been accepted (more specifically for advertising after completing the ADV318J course)? If so, what was your gpa?

Why do you post such drivel? This is categorically INCORRECT.

OP, the link below stipulates the minimum requirements. It states that the minimum GPA is a 2.25 overall UT GPA and a Communications GPA for any courses taken of a 2.0. As you stated, ADV 318J with a B- or better is necessary for you to transfer into Communications.

The site stipulates that the higher your GPA the better your transfer possibilities. Good luck. :)

This is coming from friends of mine who transferred into Communication and from what they’ve told me, it is competitive for fields such as advertising. However, most of them had upwards of 3.5 GPA with the necessary coursework and were able to transfer in.

Given that you don’t attend UT now, have never been a student at UT, nor will you ever be a student at UT, you should provide links to your assertions when OP’s ask legitimate questions. You qualified your statement with, “I believe,” in your initial response. That does not help the OP.

Congrats msolo! What is your gpa? I wonder what the cut off was. Thanks Midwestmom, i’m actually still waiting from business though which is my #1 major choice.

@tmt90 My GPA was an ugly 2.75 for my first semester as a transfer, so you can see where my worries came from. However, my communications GPA was a 3.3.

Right, now I really wish my GPA from my transfer school was included in the equation :(

For any of you transfer students, don’t you for a second underestimate UT’s academics!!
