Recently one of the Ivy league school coaches informed me that he would be able to submit a recommendation along with my application.He told me that he believed that I had a good chance of getting in and this was another type of recruiting.
He has asked for my score reports , transcripts and other documentation etc.However I am not sure if this means I will have any indication of my chances of being admitted before applying or if this support is as strong as the usual support.
My other option is to commit to a D3 school(CMU or UChicago), where my application has gone for a pre-read and I am being recruited by the coaches.

I don’t know, but ask the coach directly. “Is this for a pre-read from admissions?” If so, ask the coach when you’ll/he’ll hear from admissions.
Often when the recruiting is done at a younger age (sophomores, even freshmen) the coaches want to see a transcript and any test scores available before they even open discussions. Most coaches have done recruiting for so long they can do a pretty good pre-read themselves, but you’ll want an official one if you are making decisions based on it. Communication is very important, especially if you are international. Just be as direct as you can
