International business at UCSD or Cal State?

Hello,

I am a first year math-cs student at UCSD. I’ve always liked math, but, as it turned out, not to the point of taking 17 quarters of it.

What I have also figured out, it that my major is 70% math and 30% cs, and employers prefer regular cs (at least for programming jobs, which makes sense). It is EXTREMELY hard to switch to the cs major and I don’t think it’s worth the nerves. In addition, I don’t have priority of enrolling into cs classes, and they are all FULL.

While I don’t want to take 17 math classes and I am not even interested in the major anymore, I have always been interested in international studies and business. I absolutely love learning foreign languages and, in addition, there is just enough math in the major for me to enjoy, but no too much.

The thing is, UCSD isn’t particularly known for its international business program. So I was wondering if the name of the school would make up for it. Or maybe I should transfer to cal state (which is 2-3 times cheaper) and major in international business there, or even do a double major with cs, since there is no such deficit of classes. What do the employers care more about?

Another thing to consider is that Rady’s School of Management, an MBA program at UCSD, is pretty good, and they might be more likely to admit UCSD graduates (because I know their med school is biased this way).
