International Business Major vs. Psych Major

I am a junior in high school and I am beginning to think about college majors. How easy is it to switch majors if you don't like it? I'm not sure which way I want to go. Also, do international business majors get good job with a bachelors degree. How many world languages would you need to learn? Can you start a new language when you enter college or should you stick with the same language from high school?

psych is the major with the worst return on investment, business is the way to go

Most business programs that have an international focus require proficiency in one foreign language - either with prior knowledge or with taking courses to fulfill those requirement. So no, you do not have to choose the same language as HS although many do because it is what they are familiar with and can go farther with it because they have already had experience with the language.

Psych is not necessarily a bad degree, but just a bachelor’s degree in psych will not get you very far. Most jobs in psych will require further higher education such as a master’s degree or a phd. Some, however, choose to focus on the business side of things, which you may find more applicable, such as business/industrial psychology. Still, as a whole, if picking between those two, international business sounds more applicable although you could certainly double major. Switching majors is generally pretty easy at most schools, but some schools have certain requirements if you want to get into a different major. Switching freshman or sophomore year will be easier than let’s say the fall of your senior year if you decide to pursue a different route.

You’re still young so there’s still plenty of time to explore. You don’t have to decide now, for right now, explore your interests and look at the possible career pathways. Some are college students and they haven’t decided yet.

Thanks!
