Haha I am comforted (well sort of). But people in my school have even more fantastic CVs than me: one guy has 4 National Olympiad Gold Medals in Math, Physics, Chem and Informatics, for example =p, which would place him in the Top 5 in the country (at our age-level) for all those subjects. That is quite hard to beat =p. Meanwhile, other people in my school went to RSI @ MIT, got 2400s on their SAT Is, all very very competitive...

frankchn, ur stats are amazing, they should have accepted u right away....this college admissions process is really random at times....i saw other kids whose stats are not as good as yours get into M&T...

even if you DONT get in, it'll be the schools' loss, not your's :-)

good luck!

Since this thread has gotten bumped by mariak89, here is an update on my current application results:

Accepted by CMU/Tepper and CMU Engineering (ECE)

Accepted by NYU/Stern

Rejected by MIT (not surprising)

Getting nervous about the rest of my schools... Well we shall all know about our results soon =p.

i'm singaporean as well (although i moved to the states a while back)
do you by any chance happen to be attending RJC?

@iX3demosthenes:

I was from Hwa Chong, part of the first batch of IP students.

Hey, I did THIMUN-Singapore there. :)

Wow, your pretty amazing.

How is your rejection from MIT not suprising?
Although I know the process tends to be random on some fronts, what were you lacking?

For complete-ness sakes, here is my final results from all the schools. From my results, I think you can agree that the college admissions process is quite random sometimes:

Columbia Fu Fdn (Offered Davis Scholarship)
NYU/Stern

Waitlisted:
Cornell University Arts & Science (decline place on waitlist)

oh wow, two of my cousins attended hwa chong a couple years ago, and now are in their final year of NS.

@john5170, pretty much all instruction in singapore is in english, unless it's a foreign language

Wow unbelievable that MIT would deny someone like you...

Congratulations on your admission to Stanford but still... I think you deserve MIT too.

Can I read your essays? you can send it to durmstrangs@hotmail.com

HeWhoDreams, btw do you think MIT will take me?

Haha, my essays are nothing to write home about really. It is just standard stuff about me overcoming my fear of public speaking and getting inspired by a demonstration of a Faraday cage in our local Science Centre.

Wow finally get to see your stats! You are CS right? You interviewed me for this year’s BBI ;)

^ Yep, I am. I did? This year?
