Hello everybody,
I'm still considering to apply to Columbia for Fall 2013. (now junior)

I'm from Europe - white. First college student in family (even first one with high school diploma). Middle-class. We really don't have any stats or gpa's but I would say I could be like between the first 20-30 students from approximately 130 junior students. My gpa is 3.0 (just grades). 14 subject - have 7 B's 7 A's. Quite challenging public high school.

My extracurriculars:
-(past) captain of girl's softball team (for three years on my middle school, participation in nationals, even now helping with organization of the team)
- member of drama club
- playing clarinette and flute (public appearances)

teaching seniors how to use computers (kind of volunteering)

helping teachers with organizations (stucked computers, arrangements.. pretty everything)

got into nationals in english, once math

extracurriculars are very hard to do (time and my school really does not offer anything - I do everything in my free time at different places)

thinking about volunteering abroad during this summer for couple of weeks

Scores:
- Toefl: not taken yet, should be around 100
- Sat: taking it on June 2 and then in fall
- Sat II: will take Math 2 (probably) and Literature
- will have outstanding recommendations and a great essay (pretty good in writing)

I know I'm not outstanding. I know it does not look enough. But I know I'm worth to accept. Do you think I have a shot even though I'm .. kinda average? What would help me? Or any other "good" school I would have a shot?
