International Financial Aid

Hi guys,
I’ve searched around CC for a bit and haven’t found an answer I was looking for so don’t beat me down if there’s a thread on this already :slight_smile:

=======================
I’m applying to the Class of 2020 to Harvard, Columbia, UPenn, UChicago + Stanford. I’m an international applicant from Australia who is needing financial aid. However, I know the chances for me are already slim even without FA. Will applying FA basically mean there’s virtually no chance that I’ll get admitted since all the schools are need-aware besides Harvard? Some tips/suggestions/personal anecdotes would be great here.

My SATs aren’t that great: 2150, Maths2: 780, Chem: 720. GPA: 95/99.95 (Heavy/difficult course load)
BUT, if you look at my chance me thread, you’ll see that I stand out in my extracurriculars in a big way.

Assuming my essays are good/ideal quality, do you think applying FA will TOTALLY ruin my admissions?

FA applications are due Feb 1 so just want to make sure.

If you need FA, then it doesn’t matter if it hurts your chances. What good would an acceptance do for you if you don’t get FA???

That’s true but I just want to know. Plus, if applying for FA will basically mean 0 chance for me, then there really is no point applying at all

At harvard, it shouldn’t matter.

However, others will be more stingy when it comes to Int. FA, and Stanford is known to be very picky about it.

Apply for the aid. Needing aid will not mean that your application never is looked at at those places. If they want you, you will get in and you will get an aid package of some kind.
