Your chances as a Turk is less bleak than if your nationality is Chinese, SKorean, Canadian.
Your grades & ECs are “good enough”, but the vast majority of applicants with “good enough” grades & ECs get rejected anyway.

@duygue - How could you manage to get 41 on the IB when you are currently a junior? Are you referring to predicted scores? Is so, you need to state that. There can be a world of difference between predicted scores and actual IB results, and Ivies are unlikely to admit based on predicted results alone.
My assessment - it is very difficult for international students to get into top US universities, and based on the written English skills you have displayed in these forums, I think your chances are extremely low.
Unless you come from an affluent family that can support the full cost of your education in the US, I suspect you will have much more luck closer to home.
Don’t focus so much on the ivies, they will be a reach for you.
I think these excellent colleges are especially looking for different perspective and different nationality and My friedns who are bigger than me got into Yale, Harvard and Upenn. I know lots of student in Turkey like that. Ivy and other colleges do not restrick theirselves to accepted only US students and really low rate for international students.
I am in high school for 5 years, it is special for my school (prep)
There are also "a lot of " other international kids who got in Harvard
Yes, I know. I just want to give a chance to myself.
Re: Post #7 - @paul2752 : I believe that Architecture is one of the most (if not THE most) “impacted” majors at Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, and so it probably can’t be considered a true safety. It is a small, prestigious department, and quite selective. CP-SLO admits by departments, and so acceptance rates can vary greatly there.
Oh yeah I forgot about 'impacted" part. Thanks for reminding me @woogzmama mama
How did you get a 780 Writing with the level of the writing you’ve shown us here?
@smartdancer no need to be rude…however writing section is quite easy if you know the basic rules, even for foreign speakers. Also the essay section has been a subject of controversy for a longtime.
If you do not comment about my college issue, you don’t need to be here i think.
^But they have been commenting about your “college issue”. The fact is that getting into an Ivy League school is near impossible for students in America, and out-of-this-world hard for international applicants (especially since most are international competition winners and such). I would focus on essays and letters of recommendation because you seem to be pretty well-developed in all other areas. I would also apply to safety schools just in-case. The thing about ivy league chance threads is that its really hard to chance someone because the admissions process is pretty arbitrary at times. I hope I helped :).
I think what sets you apart are your ECs. ECs in Poland, Hungary, Bosnia, China, Peru and Indonesia? Wow. I think this will get any AO’s attention.
Yes my school is project school(it is special for turkey) and we really had a chance to make projects. The thing that I am wondering is summer language courses are included in EC’s?
If you’re international, then the odds are stacked against you.
You have solid test scores, course rigor, and leadership activities.
You are, however, lacking enough national/international recognition to be competitive against all of the other international applicants.
Chances:
HYP - High Reach
Other - Mid Reach
If you are not an international, than you’re chances would be better.
Look at the usnwr rankings for research universities and national liberal arts colleges. All of these are elite schools in the us. Look for the best fit for you.
As for summer classes yes they count.
What is HYP? Thanks for the answers
omg I get it
Harvard Yale Princeton
Your odds as an international are roughly1%there. Up to about 5% considering your achievements. They recruit the best students IN THE WORLD. Not in your school, or your town, or your province. In the world. So apply, because you’ll make the first cut ; but keep in min your odds are minuscule an apply widely. There are 3,700colleges in the us, and even the top85if you combine research us and LACs make up the top2%…
